General Assistance is a monthly grant program that provides short-term financial aid for those applicants that meet certain eligibility requirements. In order to qualify for assistance, the applicant must be a township resident, their current available non-exempt income must fall within the income guidelines. The applicant must have applied and been found ineligible for all other State or Federal benefits, and they must be willing to work and/or willing to participate in a job search or job fair.

Emergency Assistance is a needs based program based on income and family size. Qualified applicants may receive assistance with rent, utilities, non-narcotic prescription medications, and food vouchers. Emergency Assistance may only be granted once in a twelve-month period.

The HOPE Foundation of Jo Daviess County is a charitable corporation that “provides grants to individuals with disabilities and the agencies that serve them in Jo Daviess County. Who We Serve Low income and needy individuals and families residing within Jo Daviess County. Clients self-identify as “in need” and may visit once each month. No documentation is required.
Process First-time clients will be asked to complete a registration sheet with name, address, phone number, and names and ages of family members residing at that address. Following registration, clients will simply check in at each visit and items selected will be recorded for inventory purposes. Clients may select three higher value and three lower value items each month. Laundry detergent and fabric softener may be selected every other month.
When We’ re Open ‒ Second Saturday and fourth Monday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

NICAA GOLDEN MEALS – This program offers daily hot, nutritionally balanced noon meals at three different sites in the county for persons 60 years old and over, plus spouses. Home delivered meals are available to those who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Call any Golden Meals site for additional information. Reservations are appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. The suggested donation is $3.00 per meal. Donations are private and confidential.
